Background

Anadendron or later known as Anadendrum are genera with 15 accepted species. First published in 1864 Annales Musei a Latin-Dutch botanical book. Anadendrum cordatum was documented by H. W. Schott, a well-known Austrian botanist, with the help of P. W. Khortals, a Dutch botanist, who discovered the plant samples. Recorded as an inhabitant of Mount Singgalang, later studied. Until today, Anadendrum cordatum was found around Sumatera and the latest publication by LIPI, it's also based on Enggano Island's biodiversity list of species. Forming cordate-ovate lamina with strong glaucous character and uneven leaf base. Darker green to light green main veins on juvenile form profoundly occur. Glaucous abaxial much likely be greener when mature. Forming semi-shrubs covering the base of big canopy trees. With adaptability to the tropic climate changes, Anadendrum cordatum considered as strong subshrub flowering plants native to Sumatera, Indonesia. The specimens much likely to be wrong named under many pseudo-name such as Scindapsus lucens or Anadendrum affine.
