Background

The perennial climbing plant Rhaphidophora megasperma belongs to the family Araceae. can only be found and grows epiphytically in Borneo's (Sarawak) and Kalimantan's natural rainforest (West and Central). Semi-leptocaul, moderately large, thin to somewhat robust, creeping and climbing liane up to 5 meters. Primary dwelling in the disturbed secondary lowland perhumid to everwet forest on clay-loam, almost exclusively riverine (but not rheophytic), at a height of 40 to 130 m. When young, a leaf's lamina is complete or very slightly perforated; as the leaf ages, it becomes wider, oblong-elliptic, and conspicuously circular or rhombic, extending to as much as half of its lamina width on either side of the midrib. A trully massive plant when matured on the garden bed or let climbing on trees around the shady part of warm climate area.
