Background

Anthurium warocqueanum, a magnificent epiphytic tree dweller from the rainy woods of Columbia in northern South America, is known among collectors as the Queen Anthurium. Anthurium warocqueanum is a member of the Anthurium section Cardiolonchium, which includes Anthurium species with velutinous (velvet) leaf blades. It is considered to be difficult to grow. Anthurium warocqueanum is endemic (only found in nature) in the Pacific lowlands and intermountain valleys of Central and Western Colombia, according to Dr. Tom Croat of the Missouri Botanical Garden.

It grows in moist to wet forests at elevations ranging from low to 1,430 meters (4,500 feet). It is somewhat scarce in some areas and is frequently seen on tree trunks only 2.5 meters (9 feet) above ground. If you look hard enough, you may now discover and buy small specimens made by the use of tissue culture (cloning). A cloned plant, on the other hand, almost never possesses the inherent beauty of a seed grown plant. Anthurium warocqueanum leaves can grow to approximately two meters (six feet) in length! The silver white veins become more apparent as the leaf becomes larger. Truly the queen of the aroid world of houseplant phenomenon.

Wait for longer gap between watering in winter as most of the wild specimen has it's habit on defending its life by dormancy. Make sure your plant medium get fairly dry.
