Background

Schismatoglottis ciliata is a flowering plant species in the Araceae family that belongs to the Asperata group. It is a perennial terrestrial evergreen that can only be found in Borneo. Living in the lowlands on the forest floor at around 300 meters above sea level. It is dark green on top and variegated with two irregularly blotchy bands of whitish green running about midway between the margin and midrib on the leaf. It appears paler on the underside, hairy on the margins and midrib, the base narrowly cordate with the posterior lobes overlapping or nearly so, and the tip abruptly acuminate for 1 cm. It has hairy pale red to light green petiole. Making it very interesting addition to close enclosure like terrarium.

Wait for longer gap between watering in winter as most of the wild specimen has it's habit on defending its life by dormancy. Make sure your plant medium get fairly dry.
