Background

A tropical genus called Schismatoglottis has over 100 species, the vast majority of which are Malesian and Bornean within Malesia. The genus reaches Vanuatu in the east and subtropical China in the north, with a fairly rapid decline in species diversity across Wallacea in the east and the Malay Peninsula in the north. India and Australia don't have it. Although a few Neotropical species have been identified, it is unclear if they are truly congeneric with Asian species.

Nearly all species, from sea level to 1700 meters above sea level, are restricted to rainforest or to secondary vegetation in rainforest settings. Since none of them can go into dormancy, the genus is mostly excluded from regions that are highly seasonal, with species richness declining dramatically as seasonality rises. While the majority of species are terrestrial and frequently abundant in the forest herb layer, a sizeable portion are rheophytes or lithophytes and are occasionally confined to certain substrates (van Steenis, 1981). This genus has a very high percentage of locally endemic species, especially in Borneo.

Unresolved species with thick, dark-green, ovate leaves that are obovate in base and have striking silver markings along the edge and midrib are seen here. It requires a room with high humidity and a temperature range of 16 to 25C. It thrives on substrates with plenty of organic materials and good drainage. The best addition to the terrarium enclosure.

Water

Water well on dry/summer every 5 days, please wait until top 3inches soil are dry. Once the watering habit are established for maximum grows, this plant can thrive for very long time. Wait for longer gap between watering in winter as most of the wild specimen has it's habit on defending its life by dormancy. Make sure your plant medium get fairly dry.

Requires well balanced acidity soil (6.5 to 7 pH) with well drained substrate that rich in organic matters
