Background

One of the rare Hoya species, Hoya buntokensis, lives in an environment of lowland heath forest between 100 and 300 meters above sea level, above a creek and marsh. Myrmecophytic is the name of a blooming plant in the Apocynaceae family that coexists peacefully with ants. It possesses a unique type of leaf known as a domatia that has been identified scientifically as the form of a hoya leaf. The term "buntokensis" relates to Buntok in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, which is the type location. Very unusual perennial climber that looks great in a hanging basket or container with trellis.
