Background

The flowering Araceae plant Podolasia stipitata is found in West Malesia, specifically in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, and Northwest Borneo. It primarily inhabits peaty soils on lowland perhumid peat-swamp forest, usually on raised peat deposits (podzols) subject to seasonal inundation, less often on damp sub-ridgetop kerangas. Spines help to distinguish Podolasia stipitata from Cyrtosperma and Lasia, two other taxa that also exist in West Malaysia. While Lasia and Cyrtosperma typically have spines on the veins underneath their leaf blades, Podolasia does not have these spines. Instead, the spines in Podolasia are light in color and curved downward, while those in Cyrtosperma are dark and curled upward. It is made up of a single species that comes in two varieties: one with attractive, slender sagittate leaves, and the other, a sturdy plant with larger leaves. Making it perfect addition to your garden.

Water

Water well on dry/summer every 5 days, please wait until top 3inches soil are dry. Once the watering habit are established for maximum grows, this plant can thrive for very long time. Wait for longer gap between watering in winter as most of the wild specimen has it's habit on defending its life by dormancy. Make sure your plant medium get fairly dry.

Requires well balanced acidity soil (6.5 to 7 pH) with well drained substrate that rich in organic matters
