Background

Abelmoschus is a Malvaceae family plant that blooms once a year. Here is a Papua New Guinea specimen that has not yet been solved. Genus epithet 'Abelmoschus' means 'source of musk', explaining how some species of the genus (eg. Abelmoschus moschatus) are cultivated for their musk-scented seeds, which are used in perfumes and medicines. The specific ephitet derived from the Birds of Paradise endemic to Papua New Guinea 'Cendrawasih'. Prefers rich, well-drained soils. can be sown in the ground, containers, or bags with root control. From planting to the first harvest, it takes 47–97 days. The edible plant Abelmoschus sp. "Cendrawasih" consists of fruits, leaves, flowers, and seeds. the consumption of young, fragile fruits or the cooking of leafy portions as vegetables. Here is the full sun treated Abelmoschus sp. "Cendrawasih" resulting darker and tend to grow wider with more vibrant red petiole and mid rib. Can be treated as potted plant as houseplant or plant in the garden as ornamental plant for its beautiful unique slender leaf.
